Ottawa County (Kansas)

Ottawa County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Minneapolis. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located north-east of the geographic center of Kansas is located in the north about 80 miles from Nebraska and has an area of 1870 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It borders the following counties (clockwise): Cloud County, Clay County, Dickinson County, Saline County, Lincoln County and Mitchell County.

History

Ottawa County was formed on 27 February 1860. It was named after the Ottawa, an Indian tribe.
