Ottmarsheim

Ottmar home is a commune with 1862 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. The place belongs to the canton and arrondissement Illzach Mulhouse ( Mulhouse County ). In Ottmar home has a church community, the Communauté de communes de France Rhin Porte Sud ( CCPFRS ), to which the commune belongs, are located here

Geography

Ottmar home is located 15 km east of Mulhouse at an altitude of 220 m in the Rhine Valley on the Rhine side channel and thus only slightly from the border to Germany. In the immediate vicinity of the French highway A36 runs (La Morbier ) ( European route E54 ).

The surrounding towns are Niffer, Petit- Landau, Hombourg, Chalampé and Bantzenheim and on the German side of the city Neuenburg am Rhein.

Attractions

The place holds with the abbey church Ottmarsheim a significant monument from the early 11th century, which was built as an octagon, but much simpler Rudolf von Altenburg, an ancestor of the Habsburgs following the example of Count Palatine Chapel of Charlemagne in Aachen. Therefore, Ottmar home is also a station on the Roman road of Alsace.
