Otto Hahn Medal

The Otto Hahn Medal has been awarded since 1978. The Max Planck Society is characterized by it every year up to 30 (up to and including 2010, a maximum of 40 ) young scientists for outstanding scientific achievements, which they have provided in their promotion. The award of the medal is connected to a recognition doping of 7,500 €.

From 1978 to 2010 570 scientists were awarded the Otto Hahn Medal. The award is presented each during the assembly of the Max Planck Society in the following year. The medal is named after the nuclear chemist and Nobel laureate Otto Hahn, who was from 1948 to 1960 President of the Max Planck Society.
