Otto Liebmann

Otto Liebmann ( born February 25, 1840 in Lowenberg, Silesia, † January 14, 1912 in Jena ) was a German philosopher.

Liebmann was from 1872 professor in Strasbourg, from 1882 in Jena. He was among the founders of neo-Kantianism. In his famous book, Kant and the epigones, he defended the philosophy of Kant against the ( in his opinion ) successor; in particular, he takes a critical look with Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Fries, Herbart and Schopenhauer. His son was the Mathematikerund university teachers to Leipzig Karl Otto Heinrich Liebmann. After his death, he was buried at the North Cemetery in Jena.
