Ottokar IV, Duke of Styria

Ottokar IV (also Otakar, * 1163, † May 8, 1192 ) was from 1164 Markgraf, from 1180 Duke of Styria. He came from the family of the Traungau, his parents were Ottokar III. and Cunegonde of Vohburg.

Since Ottokar was one year old when his father died before his mother Gwendolyn resulted in the established manner the nature of their mother Sophie up to his majority in 1180 the official duties. 1180, after the fall of Henry the Lion, Styria was separated as an independent duchy of Bavaria and Ottokar appointed by his uncle, the brother of his mother, Emperor Frederick Barbarossa to the Duke.

1186 met at the George Duke Ottokar IV mountain in Enns and the Babenberg Duke Leopold V of Austria, to complete a contract of inheritance ( George Handfeste ), which was approved by the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Ottokar IV died childless in May 1192 as the last Traungau.
