Otzberg (Vulkan)

The Otzberg is a 367 m high extinct volcano in front of the Odenwald, in which the place of herring, a village in the municipality Otzberg, and the Veste Otzberg is.

Veste Otzberg

The Otzberg is crowned by the fortress Otzberg, which was first mentioned in 1231. The Veste Otzberg should therefore have been built in the late 12th, early 13th century.

Herring

On the northern slope of the Otzberges is the town of herring with about 1000 inhabitants.

Geography

The Otzberg located in the northern front of the Odenwald in the eponymous municipality in the district of Darmstadt- Dieburg Otzberg. The area around 130 to 200 m unsurpassed, it provides a highly visible brand in the northern Odenwald dar. north it falls off, towards the current flat Dieburger pool.

The Alemannenweg is a 132 km long walking path predicate and runs as a circular walk of about Bensheim -Auerbach Michel City, Castle Frankenstein and the Veste Otzberg back to the starting point. On Alemannenweg are many historical attractions.
