Oudeschild

Oudeschild is with about 1000 inhabitants, the third largest city of the municipality of Texel, on the same Wadden Sea island in the Netherlands. Oudeschild lies at the eastern end of the island.

Here, a marina with 200 berths and is a fishing port. 1780 a dike breakthrough was made in Oudeschild first time and created a port. In the time before the internationally famous Texel roadstead lay off the coast of Oudeschild were supplied to the merchant ships with water and went pilotage for the onward journey to the Dutch ports on board. Of historical importance is the old De Schans.

In the village there is a restored windmill and the Kaap Skil, a marine museum and beachcombing.
