Oudtshoorn is a municipality in the district of Eden, Western Cape Province in South Africa. In 2001, the population was 84 685 inhabitants on an area of 3537 km ². The administrative center is Oudtshoorn. The community is named after Baron van Rheede van Oudtshoorn, former Governor of the Cape, who died in 1773 on a sea voyage to the Cape.
