Ourno
Region
Ourno is a rural municipality in the Department Madaoua in Niger.
Geography
Ourno lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Karofane in the north, Adjékoria in the Northeast, Dan Goulbi the southeast, Bangui in the southwest and Madaoua in the West. The municipality is divided administrative villages and 92 hamlets in 75. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Ourno.
History
The rural community Ourno was founded in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Madaoua forth.
Population
At the 2001 census Ourno had 51 160 inhabitants. For the year 2010 68.933 inhabitants were calculated.
Policy
In the local elections in July 2004 Hadjia Gomma Idi ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor.
Culture and sights
In the municipality of Ourno the highly visible hills of Doutsin Zana is (also: Doutchi Zana ), at the highest point, a place of sacrifice and of Usman dan Fodio commissioned stone mosque are located.
Economy and infrastructure
The community is located at the junction of the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the north to the zone of the irrigation field economy of the South.
