Out of Control (Peter Criss album)

Out of Control is the title of the published in 1980 after his separation from the hard rock band Kiss drummer Peter Criss of the first album. It was the first album by a group member, which appeared independent of group membership.

Genesis

Peter Criss had Kiss, whose founding member, he was forced to leave in 1980, after he had developed a serious drug problem, which meant that he was no longer in a position soon to play professionally drums. His last recording was the title for Kiss Dirty Livin ' been, which was released in 1979 on the album Dynasty. On the recording of the album Kiss Unmasked, released in May 1980, he was not involved and was only performed as a member of the group in order to keep up appearances until a replacement was found. His successor, Eric Carr, was on July 1, a member of Kiss.

Criss retained his share of the business firms Kiss; Bill Aucoin, manager of Kiss since the band's inception, continued to work for him.

While Kiss were looking for a successor to Peter Criss, was in the studio and worked on his record. The majority of the recorded title came from, as with his first solo album, which he had published in 1978 as a member of Kiss, he and his partner Stan Penridge. Only one title, namely, You Better Run, came from outside writers.

Cover

The cover of the album shows in the background a seemingly burning music box from which the records are catapulted explosively out to the front and uncontrolled fly into a group of people. The idea stemmed from Peter Criss, the drawing was made by Todd Schorr. In the left foreground a blonde woman is seen with her is Criss ' then wife, Playboy Playmate Debra Jensen.

Publication

Out of Control was released in October 1980 and sold very poorly. Criss Kiss imputed to have taken effect on the market, which led to poor sales. However, considering the then current upheavals in the record company Casablanca Record & Filmworks (founder Neil Bogart had his remaining shares sold in the company to PolyGram, the new owners tried to save what could be saved → Main article: Casablanca Records), explain the problems almost by itself:

Penridge was completed on 9 May 1980 a mix of previously completed title, which he liked and Criss and clearly oriented hard rock was. Nevertheless, Jim Boyer was commissioned by the heads of the record company to take over the sound mix for the album, Penridge and Criss were not involved. The result was much softer. PolyGram looked out of control and the next Criss album Let Me Rock You as a favor to a former successful band rather than a way to earn money with the popularity of Kiss and Criss.

The publication rights for the album were at Kiss and Rocksteady Music, the music publisher Bill Aucoins; else pointed Criss step into the musical independence strong references to his previous band: Howard Marks Advertising was responsible for the design as Kiss, the Credits section also dive Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and his wife Jeanette and her daughter Monique on. The album ends with the sung by Criss line you must remember this, a kiss is a kiss quietly from the song As Time Goes By.

As a single By Myself was published, but they did not reach the charts. The title You Better Run was recorded and released in 1982 by Pat Benatar.
