Out of This World (Musical)

Out of This World is a musical with music and song lyrics by Cole Porter. The book by Dwight Taylor and Reginald Lawrence was based on the comedy Amphitryon 38 by Jean Giraudoux and its American adaptation of Samuel Nathaniel Behrman, which in turn are based on the tragi-comedy of Plautus Amphitryon.

The premiere took place on December 21, 1950 at the New Century Theatre in New York. Directed by Agnes de Mille, composed by George Abbott, choreographed Hanya Holm worked. The German premiere took place on 31 December 1986 at the Theater Pforzheim, in a version by Hartmut H. Forche and Mary Millane. On 13 December 2007, in the Old Theatre in Stuttgart, the new translation of Wolfgang Adenberg under the title Out of this world premiere.

Action

As in Plautus ' Amphitryon is Jupiter's object of desire a married woman. Here the American Helen Kenyon, which is freshly married to the reporter kind O'Malley. Jupiter gives to the desired traffic in the form of her husband, with the help of his son Mercury and the greed O'Malleys after a story about a wanted by the FBI control fugitive who has disappeared in Greece.
