Outagamie County, Wisconsin

The Outagamie County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the County had 176 695 inhabitants and a population density of 106.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. By 2012, the Einwohnerahl increased to 178 816. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Appleton, named after Samuel Appleton of Boston, the father of Amos A. Lawrence, founder of Lawrence University.

Geography

The County is located in eastern Wisconsin between Lake Michigan belonging to Green Bay and Lake Winnebago. It is located in the northeast about 15 km and 60 km to the east from Lake Michigan and has an area of 1669 square kilometers, of which 11 square kilometers are water surface.

In the south east it is drained by the lower reaches of the Fox River; through the west of the county flow of the Wolf River and its tributary, the Embarras River, both of which belong to the current system of the Fox River.

History

The Outagamie County was formed in 1851 from parts of Brown County. It was named as people from the opposite bank means after a Native American term that translates freely.
