Outside broadcasting

An OB van (short form: OB van ) is equipped with the necessary technology, a Radio or television studios vehicle. It is mostly used for live broadcasts, where techniques such as mobile phone or tape recorders are not sufficient for coverage.

History

The first OB van was taken in September 1951 in Hamburg in operation. It was developed by NWDR, the TV GmbH and the bus company Bussing. The cars were initially only outside broadcasts in a 20km - radius of transmitter possible.
