Ovadia Eli

Owadia Eli (Hebrew עובדיה עלי, May 22nd, 1945 in Khanaqin, Iraq Kingdom ) is a former Israeli politician.

Life

Eli emigrated in 1950 to Israel and visited the Lifshitz Seminar for Education. He made studies in Bible and Educational Counselling and earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Haifa. After he left the Knesset, he was appointed by the then Minister of National Infrastructure, Ariel Sharon to the CEO of Oil Refineries.

In April 2005 he was appointed by Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz Managing Director of the Israel Military Industries, left this office, however, in June 2006. In October 2006 he was appointed Managing Director of Israel Airports Authority.

He was a board member of the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Politician

Eli was in the 11th to the 13th legislative period from 13 August 1984 to June 17, 1996 Member of the Knesset and from 8 July 1991 to July 13, 1992 Deputy in the 12th legislative period and 24.Regierungskabinett Defence. He was also from 1978 to 1991 mayor of Afula.
