Ovarian artery

The ovarian artery (Latin for " ovarian artery " ) is a paired, springing from the abdominal aorta artery in female mammals that supplies the ovary ( ovary ). It corresponds to the testicular artery of male individuals.

The departure of the ovarian artery occurs below the renal artery ( renal artery ). The vessel is coextensive with the vena ovarian and sympathetic nerve fibers - in humans suspensory ligament of the ovary and in animals in the mesovarium to the ovary.

From the ovarian artery passes before entering the ovary still a branch of the fallopian tube ( Ramus tubarius ) and in many mammals also for a small part of the uterus ( uterine Ramus ) from.

The ovarian vein is in most mammals the main drain for the uterus as the uterine vein usually is small or even absent. It opens on the left into the renal vein and on the right side directly into the inferior vena cava ( in animals as caudal vena cava called ).
