Overnight Sensation is the thirteenth studio album by the British heavy metal band Motörhead. It was the first album without the second guitarist Würzel and the first for CMC Records.

Formation

After the departure of guitarist Würzel the band to continue as a trio decided. In the opinion of Lemmy Kilmister have a single guitarist more freedom, but can you play some of the new pieces do not live with only one guitarist. Even during the current touring in late 1995, work on the new album should start, but Motörhead had not written a single song. The pieces were written on it within four weeks. All titles are joint compositions of the band, the only exception is Listen to Your Heart, which Kilmister had written on an acoustic guitar. The subsequent recording based tracks took a further four weeks. After a break, during which occurred the band at various festivals, the recordings were completed. The album was released on 15 October 1996, sales had taken over BMG. The first single was released I Do not Believe a Word.

Eduardo Rivadavia of Allmusic noted that Motörhead back return with the album to their " typical three chord rock and roll ". He says that Overnight Sensation is refreshingly raw and honest, and in particular will appeal to the old fans. January Jaedike from the music magazine Rock Hard says that the album is musically coherent and that new ideas such as the use of an acoustic guitar at Listen to Your Heart or the increased use of Breaks showed a growth process that is existence hardly have expected the band after 21 years as would.
