Ovidiu Victor Ganţ ( born August 18, 1966 in Deta, Timis county, Romania ) is a German politician romania the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania ( DFDR ).

Life

After holding various positions as a teacher in the Banat, including from 1992 to 2001, headmaster of Nikolaus Lenau Lyceum in Timişoara, held Ganţ 2001 to 2004 the office of Undersecretary of State in the Department for Interethnic Relations of the Romanian government. From 2004 to 2008 he was vice- chairman of the Banat organization of the DFDR, since 2004 he is a deputy in the Romanian Parliament, is the fraction of national and ethnic minorities.

2005-2006 Ganţ belonged to the Romanian observer delegation in the European Parliament. After Romania's accession to the European Union in 2007, he was Member of the European Parliament and a member of the EPP-ED group. As an MEP he was a member of the Committee on Culture and Education.
