Owen Flanagan

Owen Flanagan ( born 1949 ) is an American philosopher and since 1993 professor of philosophy and neuroscience at Duke University. Flanagan's main area of ​​work is the philosophy of mind and in particular the question of the self. In this work he refers also Buddhist and Hindu conceptions with which, inter alia, has led to a commitment to the Mind and Life Institute. In terms of the general theory of consciousness Flanagan represents a naturalistic position, therefore claims that mental phenomena can be well explained in terms of a materialist conception.
