Oxalis triangularis

Oxalis triangularis, also called Triangular leaf clover or clover Red Triangle, a species of the genus is sorrel ( Oxalis ) in the family of sorrel plants ( Oxalidaceae ).

Description

Oxalis triangularis grows as ausdauerde herbaceous plant. There are rhizomes with lengths of up to 5 cm and diameters of up to 1.5 cm formed as outlasting.

The leaves have three triangular, with ornamental shapes on both sides red to purple, usually 3-5 ( 2-6 ) cm leaflet, the day spread out ( in brightness) and at night ( in the dark) for 12 to 20 cm long petiole towards fold.

The inflorescences contain more flowers. The hermaphrodite flowers are fünfzählig. The five white to pink or pale lilac - colored petals are long with 1.5 to 2.2 cm. Pollination is by insects. Oxalis triangularis is 12 to 18 mm long, ovoid - ellipsoid capsule fruits.

Dissemination

The original distribution area is located in South America, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay. The species was introduced to the United States to Florida and Louisiana.

Use

Oxalis triangularis is used as an ornamental plant.
