Oxidoreductase

Oxidoreductases are enzymes that catalyze redox reactions. They occur in all living beings and in many important metabolic pathways. General is the catalyzed reaction:

It is carried out at the same time, oxidation at each reduction, in addition, the reactions are reversible, and the reaction equilibrium is often in the middle, so divisions in oxidases, dehydrogenases, reductases, and the like are not useful. Instead a distinction is made systematically for the functional group, which acts as electron donor.

System

In the internationally recognized enzyme classification EC form the group 1, the oxidoreductases Thereafter oxidoreductases are further classified according to the functional group which acts as donor of electrons.

The systematic name is each donor: acceptor oxidoreductase.

Oxygenases

Oxygenases transferred or to its substrate, which often take place more oxygen atoms and ring opening of the aromatic molecule. Most NADP is consumed.
