Oxygen tent

An oxygen tent is a tent-like device in which a patient's oxygen-enriched air is fed.

Oxygen tents can be produced and used in different sizes. So, there are designs that can be worn over the face to copies in room size. The side walls are mostly transparent, to permit observation from the outside.

History

In 1900 discovered the French physician Charles Michel ( 1850-1935 ), that under a sterile oxygen atmosphere, the healing of many diseases and injuries is promoted (eg burns ). Oxygen tents were finally developed from the time of the Second World War. With the help of the tent contaminants from the air could be filtered out and thus also also respiratory diseases are treated.

As a result of his successful album Thriller came about Michael Jackson on rumors that he slept in an oxygen tent, which inspired his song Leave Me Alone.
