Özcan Mutlu

Özcan Mutlu ( born January 10, 1968 in Kelkit, Turkey) is a German politician and member of the Party of the Alliance 90/The Greens. He is a member of the 18th German Bundestag.

Biography

Life

Mutlu has been living in Berlin in 1973 and in 1990 received the German citizenship. He trained as an information electronics at the Technical University of Berlin from September 1985 to February 1989. Subsequently, he began a study from 1989 to 1993 at the Technische Fachhochschule Berlin ( TFH ) in the Department of Electrical and became the Dipl. -Ing. ( FH) communication engineering. An internship he associated in 1992 with a stay in Omaha ( United States). After that, a professional activity included as a planning engineer in a telecommunications company from 1993 to 1999.

Political Activities

In 1990 he became a member of the Greens. In 1992 he was elected for the Greens in the Kreuzberg district council, 1999 and 2006, he received a direct mandate, and represented the electoral district of Friedrichshain- Kreuzberg 3 in the Berlin House of Representatives. Mutlu was elected education policy spokesperson for the Alliance 90/The Greens in 1999. By 2006 he was a member of the Interior Committee, where he was responsible for integration and migration policy. Since the election of the House of Representatives of Berlin 2011 Mutlu is as educational policy spokesman of his group also Deputy Chairman of the Education Committee and member of the Committee for European and Federal Affairs, Berlin- Brandenburg and the media. He is responsible for the European and Turkish policy of his group. In the 2009 federal election he was nominated by his party at # 4 on the state list, but failed to reach the Bundestag scarce.

In the general election in 2013, he ran as a candidate for the parliamentary constituency of Berlin-Mitte and was also nominated on list # 2 on the Green Party list. His creative campaign received media attention. Nevertheless, he did not win the direct mandate, but moved over the national list in the Bundestag.
