Ozhukarai (actually Uzhavarkarai, Tamil: உழவர்கரை Uḻavarkarai [ uɻəʋərkarɛi̯ ] ) or Oulgaret (French) is a town in the Indian union territory of Puducherry ( Pondicherry). It is located directly west of the capital of the same Pondicherry, with which it is grown together. Ozhukarai thus belongs to the agglomeration Pondicherry, but is an independent city (municipality ). To this also includes two smaller enclaves, Kalapettai and Alankuppam, north of Pondicherry.

Due to population growth in the metropolitan area of Puducherry and the inhabitants Ozhukarais rises sharply. Between 2001 and 2011 it grew by 38 percent. With over 300,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) Ozhukarai has now overtaken the core city Pondicherry.
