Ozonide

Ozonides denotes a rare class unstable chemical compounds resulting from the addition of ozone to the double bond in an unsaturated chemical compound.

In inorganic chemistry are ozonides compounds of deep red color, which are formed by reaction of alkali metal hyperoxides with ozone.

The preparation and handling of inorganic ozonides is extremely complex and requires, for example, low temperatures and an inert gas atmosphere.

Inorganic ozonides are known with the exception of lithium and francium of all alkali metals.
