P. C. Jersild

Per Christian Jersild ( born March 14, 1935 in Katrine Holm, and PC Jersild ) is a Swedish writer and physician.

Jersild has published over 30 books from 1960 to today. His most famous works are Barnens ö ( The Island of Children, 1980 filmed by Kay Pollak ), a coming- of-age story about a boy who shirks the trip to summer camp to spend alone in Stockholm during the summer, and Babylon hus ( House of Babel ), in which he portrays the inhumane treatment of patients in a modern hospital.

Since the mid- 1980s Jersild is a columnist for the Dagens Nyheter.

From the University of Uppsala Jersild was awarded an honorary doctorate of medicine.
