Pa Dembo Touray

Pa Dembo Touray ( born March 31, 1980 in Banjul, even Dembo Tourray ) is a Gambian football player. The goalkeeper played most of his career in Sweden, where he was national champion and cup winner.

Career

Touray started his career at Real de Banjul. In 2000 he moved to the Swedish club Djurgårdens IF in the second-class Superettan. As a substitute of Rami Shaaban he came in the course of the season to use one in the league and thus contributed to a rebirth of the club in the Allsvenskan in. After the Stockholm club engaged a new goalkeeper in the following year with Andreas Isaksson Touray was awarded to the second division Assyriska Föreningen to play matches. In the second division season 2002 he reached the fifth place with the team.

After his return to Djurgårdens IF Touray second goalkeeper Isaksson remained behind so that he at best morally contributed to winning the league title. However, he was in three Cup games in goal for the Stockholm. He joined in early 2004 initially on loan to Norwegian side Vålerenga IF. After Isaksson left the club in the summer towards Rennes, but the club brought him back. As a new goalkeeper, he played up to the end of the season 17 games and missed out in fourth with the club defending their title. In the cup, he moved with the club to a final of the National Cup against IFK Gothenburg, which was won by goals of the two -goal Daniel Sjölund and Andreas Johansson with a 3-1 success.

In the 2005 Touray was under coach Kjell Jonevret in all 26 games of the season on the court and won on the side of Markus Johannesson, Tobias Hysén and Toni Kuivasto again the championship in Sweden. He also reached with the club once again the Cup final, in which Kuivasto and Hysén through its doors to the club with a 2-0 success over Åtvidabergs FF led to double profit. Furthermore, goalkeeper of the club succeeded in the 2007 third place in the table. After the season he was nominated for the award as the Goalkeeper of the Year. In January of the following year he extended his contract in Stockholm by the end of 2011. During the 2009 season he was momentarily injured, but the club could help Föreningen in the fight to avoid relegation in 23 regular season games as well as the relegation games against his former club Assyriska and the relegation accomplish. Before the start of the following season, he was named team captain, at the end of the season he received the award as player of the year in his Stockholm club.

Victims of racism

Touray was the victim of racist attacks on football stadiums. So he was pelted example, the Stockholm derby against Hammarby IF in July 2004 with bananas. About the incident also reported outside the country the BBC.
