Pa Sak River

The river Pasak ( Thai: แม่น้ำ ป่า สัก - Maenam Pasak ) is a body of water in central Thailand.

The river rises in the province of Loei in the district ( Amphoe ) Dan Sai and ends together with the Lopburi in Ayutthaya. The Pasak has a length of 513 km and drains an area of 18,000 km ². The annual runoff is ³ at about 2.4 km.

The valley of the Pasak forms the main part of the Phetchabun Mountains in the province of Phetchabun. Since the catchment area of the river is quite narrow, the amount of water of the river changes seasonally very strong, which is unfavorable for the irrigation conditions in the region. 1994 we therefore began with the construction of the Pasak - Cholasit dam ( Thai: เขื่อน ป่า สัก ชล สิทธ ) in Lopburi province. The dam is 4,860 m wide and 31.5 m high and holds about 0.8 cubic kilometers of water. In addition, here on a hydroelectric plant about 6.7 MW of electrical power is generated.
