Paatsjoki ( Pasvik ) with the Elvenes bru close to its confluence
The river Paatsjoki (Finnish ) (Norwegian Pasvik, Russian Паз, Paz, Патсойоки, Patsojoki, North Sami Báhčeveaijohka, skoltsamisch Paaččjokk ) flows through three states in the far north of Scandinavia. It drains the largest lake in Lapland, the Inarijärvi.
Geography
Shortly after exiting the Inarijärvi ( German: " Inari " ) flows through the Paatsjoki Russian territory, and later he became the Norwegian-Russian border river. In Kirkenes the Paatsjoki ( Pasvik ) in the Bøkfjord, a branch of the Varanger Fjord, and finally empties into the Barents Sea.
Hydropower plants
Are located on its run seven hydropower plants with an installed capacity of 275.9 MW and an annual output of about 1,475 TWh.
History
The Paatsjoki was only after the Continuation War, the Norwegian- Russian border river. Previously belonged to the present right bank of the river to Finland.
