Paavo Aaltonen

Paavo Johannes Aaltonen ( born December 12, 1919 in Kemi, † September 9, 1962 in Sipoo ) was a Finnish athlete.

Aaltonen took part in the Olympic Games of 1948 and 1952 as a device Turner. He here won three gold and two bronze medals.

At the Olympic Summer Games in London in 1948 he won gold in the pommel horse and horse jumping. The gold medal on pommel horse he shared with the same starting point for athletes Finland Veikko Huhtanen and Heikki Savolainen. He received another gold medal in the all-around team score. In the all-around individual competition he finished third.

In 1950 he became world champion on the horizontal bar at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. The taking place in Helsinki Summer Olympics 1952, he won the team competition bronze.
