Paavo Vierto

Paavo Vierto († March 1941 in Ukraine) was a Finnish ski jumper.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1938 in Lahti he reached in jumping on the normal hill with jumps of 64 and 63.5 meters in the 19th place of the normal hill. In 1941 he became world champion in jumping at the Nordic Ski World Championships at Cortina d' Ampezzo. The title has no official status, since the results were annulled in 1946 by the FIS.

Vierto fought as a volunteer in the Waffen SS during World War II. He fell in March 1941 when the Red Army attack on a 200- man Finnish comprehensive military patrol in Ukraine.
