Pabianice County

The powiat Pabianicki is a district with 119,000 inhabitants and belongs to the region of Łódź in Poland. Its area covers 490.77 km ² and consists of 63 percent of arable land esp. in the area around Lutomiersk and Dobroń, 26 percent are forested.

The biggest boom was in the 19th century, around the time of the cotton and textile industry. Today there are industrial companies in the pharmaceutical, electrical, mechanical, cotton processing and food. Locations are esp. Pabianice and neighboring Ksawerow, where also the Łódź wholesale market is located. Here this type are sold in Poland products from agriculture and food production in one of the most advanced markets. The district suffers (still ) under severe environmental problems, sewage treatment plants are under the EU treaties in planning or under construction.
