Pablo Andrés Contreras Fica ( born September 11, 1978 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean football player. Finally, the full-back was to the Greek club Olympiakos Piraeus under contract. In addition to the Chilean nationality Contreras has also Spain.

Pablo Contreras began his professional career in 1996 at his youth club Colo -Colo of Chile. To his debut in the Primera División, however, he came only in 1997. Already after his first professional year of the defenders won with his club the Chilean championship. The following year they defended the title. After he was able to convince for 3 years there and received attention of European teams, Contreras signed in 1999 in the French first division club AS Monaco. As a young player, he was quickly absorbed into the team and had share in the profits of the Ligue 1 The following summer the victory in the match for the Trophée des Champions, the Super Cup followed. During his time in Monaco Contreras came to his first stakes in the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

In January 2001, the defensive player was accused, he used a fake Italian passport in order to gain EU nationality. He was then sentenced by a Paris court, had to pay € 30,000 fine and was banned for two years for the Ligue 1. For this reason, the AS- managers hired him even during the winter break to the Argentine club Racing Club Avellaneda. After his return, the club continued to search for a new club for Contreras and found this in the Spanish side Celta Vigo. Even before he went aground for his new club, the defender was loaned out to league rivals Osasuna, where he came to regular use of time. For episode season a lending transaction followed the Portuguese top club Sporting Lisbon.

After his return to Celta Vigo managed Contreras finally coach Miguel Ángel Lotina convince. In the following four and a half years, the right-back was a regular player at the Spanish club. Although Contreras 2003/ 04 with Celta was still playing in the Champions League, relegation followed in the Segunda División. However, the club reached there a second place in 2005 and was able to celebrate the resurgence. After the start of the season 2007/ 08 was not optimal for the Chileans, both sides decided to dissolve the contract during the winter break. Shortly thereafter, he moved for the second time to Portugal, where he joined Sporting Braga. After only six months, he moved to Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki. Right off the bat the team with Greek Contreras was runner. A year later, it was enough to rank three. The defensive player in both years were achievers and important pillar in the defense network of the Mediterranean kicker. In January 2012, he moved back to his youth club Colo Colo in the Chilean Primera Division, but where he stayed only briefly. Olympiakos Piraeus was looking for a new defender and ordered Contreras in August 2012.

In September 2013 Contreras signed a contract as a Marquee at the Australian professional club Melbourne Victory.

National

Pablo Contreras can look back on an eventful National team career. His debut for the South Americans he gave on 17 February 1999 in the match against Guatemala. Although his team could not for the two World Cup finals in Japan / South Korea 2002 and Germany qualify in 2006, but he took part in the Copa América in 1999 and 2007 for Chile in part. After the quarter-finals in 2007 rioted Contreras and five others in the hotel and were locked for following the tournament by the Chilean Association for 20 games.
