Pablo Laso

Pablo Laso Biurrun ( born October 13, 1967 in Vitoria- Gasteiz ) is a Spanish basketball coach and former player.

Career

Player

Pablo Laso, son of former Spanish international and basketball coach José Laso, began his career at his hometown club Saski Baskonia. Here he spent most of his career, played eleven years in the first team and celebrated his biggest success in the Spanish Cup 1994/95, where he won with his club by 88:80 in the final against Amway Zaragoza the title and the MVP was named the tournament. He subsequently moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he and his team in the season 1996/97 succeeded in winning the European Cup Winners' Cup. The 1998/99 season he began in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A for Lineltex Trieste, but moved before the end of the season back to Spain to Unicaja Málaga. After three more seasons with Casademont Girona, he left his career in the 2002/03 season end with Caprabo Lleida and Forum Valladolid.

During his 19 - year career he put in 624 games in the Spanish League all-time records in assists ( 2896 total; 4.64 per game) and steals ( 1219 total; 1.95 per game) on.

National

Pablo Laso took as a junior with Spain participated in the U-18 European Championship in 1986 in Gmunden, where his team finished fifth. His first game for the senior team, he celebrated on September 13, 1987 as part of the Mediterranean Games. He was part of the finals squad for the Euro 1989, the 1994 World Cup and the European Championship in 1995.

Coach

Pablo Laso began his career in the 2003/04 season as a coach at Cerámicas Leoni Castellón in the LEB2, the third division in Spain. After a year in the ACB league at Pamesa Valencia, he took over the Zweitdivisionär Alerta Cantabria. In summer 2007 it undertook Lagun Aro GBC and immediately reached the summit in the ACB league. After three seasons with the club from Donostia- San Sebastián in the first Spanish league, Real Madrid announced the signing of Pablo Laso as head coach. The Brussels residents, where he was active as a player from 1995 to 1997, he signed a contract running until 2013. Already in his first season Laso could win with his team the trophy. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season followed winning the Spanish Super Cups, he also reached the final of the Euro Real Madrid League and ended the year with a victory in the championship.
