Pablo Palazuelo

Pablo Palazuelo ( born October 6, 1916 in Madrid, † October 3, 2007 ) was a Spanish painter and sculptor. He is considered one of the most important abstract painters of the 20th century; he was well known, especially in Spain.

Life

Palazuelo began in Madrid and Oxford, studying architecture. From 1939 he devoted himself exclusively to painting and sculpture. Because of the Franco dictatorship in 1948, he left Spain to France. In the same year he was able to exhibit his abstract paintings for the first time in Paris with his friend Eduardo Chillida. It was not until 1969 he returned to his home country. Palazuelo died in October 2007, three days before his 91st birthday in Madrid.
