Pacific Missile Range Facility

The Kauai Test Facility ( KTF ) is a village on the west coast of the island of Kauai rocket launch site, which is operated by Sandia National Laboratories. The launch area is often referred to by its location also named Barking Sands, an uninhabited desert coastline.

In addition to numerous smaller sounding rockets and missiles of the types Strypi, STARS and Aries were launched from here. In particular, the latter two types are used for development and testing of missile defense systems. Previously made ​​from the Kauai Test Facility only suborbital flights, but also small orbital missions are planned in 2014 with the Super Strypi rocket.
