Packard One-Ten

The Packard 110 (pronounced One -Ten ) refers to a series of six -cylinder automobiles that produced the Packard Motor Car Company in Detroit in the model years 1940 and 1941. The One Ten replaced the Six series.

Packard introduced in 1937 after ten -year break again a series of six -cylinder automobiles in order to respond to the global economic crisis and the subsequent economic recovery in the United States. As an independent car manufacturer Packard could not afford to subsidize its base series of luxury automobiles by other departments, and so led to the model of a Six, which was later renamed 110 until times got better.

Critics of the Packard Six / Packard 110 long stressed that this car would affect the reputation as America's Packard's most important luxury brand. Nevertheless, the introduction of the Six could not have come at a better time for the automaker since 1938, the next recession began. By offering less expensive cars Packard was able to keep the customers who would not afford a more expensive car can.

The One Ten was introduced on a shorter chassis in August 1939 as the big Packards. It gave him a wide range of body shapes, 2 - and 4-door sedans, station wagon and convertible. A total of 1940 62.300 vehicles were manufactured in the model year.

After the first successful year the range One -Ten has been extended by introducing better equipment variant, the DeLuxe. Similarly, a taxi model was offered. Optional extras were heating, radio, searchlight and - although the One -Ten belonged to the basic model series - air conditioning available.

1942 Packard decided to include the models numerically designated in the series of great cars, and from the One- Ten was again the Packard Six.
