Padang ( Indonesian Pulau Padang ) is an Indonesian island off the east coast of Sumatra in the Strait of Malacca located.

Geography

With an area of ​​about 1109 km ², it is by Rantau and Rupat is the third largest of a series of lying in this region islands, each width by a few kilometers estuaries are separated. To the west of Padang is Sumatra, east of the island Merbau, southeast of the island and north of the island Rantau Bengkalis.
