Padraig
Pádraig [ pɑ ː drɪg ], also Padhraig, Pádraic Padhraic or written, is an Irish ( Gaelic ) male first name. In English, it corresponds to the first name Patrick.
It is derived from the Latin name Patricius and owes its popularity in Ireland to the Holy Patricius ( " Patrick of Ireland ", Irish Naomh Pádraig; † in the 5th century ), the patron and patron saint of the country. As a baptismal name Pádraig or Patrick in Ireland is widespread since the 13th century.
A common short - or endearment is Páidín, their equivalent in English, in turn, the shape of paddy.
