Paemani

The Paemanen (also Paemaner, latin Paemani ) are a Celtic or keltogermanischer tribe which is known from De bello Gallico of Gaius Julius Caesar.

Caesar is one of the Paemanen together with the Eburons, the Caerosern and Condrusern to the left of the Rhine Germans ( Germani cisrhenani ). Together they presented at the Belger war against Caesar in 57 BC 40,000 armed men. The settlement area of Paemanen was probably in the area of the Eifel- Ardennes, in between the tribal areas of Treverians, the Eburons and living beyond the Meuse Remer.

The late antique historian Orosius read the passage in Caesar as Caemani, which is why they appear in later authors also under this name.
