Page Hamilton

Page Hamilton ( born May 18, 1960 in Portland, Oregon) is an American rock singer and guitarist. He is best known as the founder and head of the band Helmet.

Originally moved to New York to study at the Manhattan School of Music Jazz, he became involved soon in the local post-punk / indie scene of the late 1980s. He played as the guitarist of Band of Susans, worked occasionally with the composer Glenn Branca and founded in 1989 finally Helmet. After a total of five albums and various publications Maxis Helmet was dissolved finally by him in 1999. Hamilton then worked with various other musicians like Trent Reznor ( Nine Inch Nails, for the album Fragile ) or Charlie Clouser ( also in Nine Inch Nails, joint project Tapeworm ) together.

In October 2002, he took for the band Limp Bizkit some guitar parts during an album production. Together with the German Caspar Brötzmann Gitarrenexperimentalisten ( together with his band Caspar Brötzmann massacre accompanied the tour to the Helmet album Mean Time), he recorded the album Zulutime. Special ordinations learned Hamilton, when he was hired by his childhood idol David Bowie as a touring guitarist for the album Hours.

In 2002, he called Gandhi a new own band to life. Publications with this band are still pending. In August 2002 the band played their first shows in the U.S. East Coast, where some Helmet songs were given for the best. 2004 Helmet was launched with almost completely new cast again. In the same year Helmet published the best-of album Unsung: the Best of Helmet 1990-1997 and a new album called Size Matters. In 2006 was followed by another album entitled " Monochrome ".

Page Hamilton is in Elliot Goldenthal's film scores to Heat, In Dreams, Titus, The Good Thief and SWAT - To hear the special unit with his electric guitar. He played also the soundtrack to Three Seasons.

Recently, Hamilton tried his hand as a producer. The first album of institutions, the new band of Gavin Rossdale, former lead singer of the British band Bush, released on 19 September 2005 on the label Interscope (Ur label of Helmet ).
