Pahang

Pahang ( Jawi: ڤهڠ ) is a sultanate and the state of Malaysia. The capital is the city Pahangs Kuantan. Seat of the Sultan is the city Pekan.

Location and Geography

Of the located on the Malay Peninsula Malaysian states of Pahang is the largest area.

Its east coast lies the South China Sea. To the south it borders the state of Johor, Negeri Sembilan and on the southwest by Selangor, on the west by Perak, to the north by Kelantan and Terengganu to the northeast.

Under topographical point of Pahang can be divided into three regions: coast, rainforest and highlands. In the rain forest is the National Park Taman Negara. With several two-thousand the Cameron Highlands are the highest point in the region.

History

Pahang came in the 17th century under the control of the Sultanate of Aceh. But already in the 18th century it came under the control of the sultanate of Lingga. In the 18th and 19th century, Pahang was a dependent by the Sultanate Linnga state. In 1887, the British influence is noticeable. The governor of Lingga Pahang, agrees to the Sultan and separates from Lingga. 1888, the British declared a protectorate in Pahang.

In 1895, Perak, Pahang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan to be the " Federated Malay States " together, which had 1941 Population by year.

In 1941, the Japanese occupation, which ended only with the end of the Second World War and the withdrawal of the Japanese in the 1945 year began.

On 1 April 1946, the Malayan Union was constituted by the merger of the Malay Sultanate and the British Crown Colonies.

Administrative divisions

Administratively, Pahang is divided into eleven districts. The capital Kuantan is located in the homonymous district of Kuantan.
