Paice Ashton Lord

Paice Ashton Lord was a British rock band consisting of musicians Ian Paice, Tony Ashton, Jon Lord, Bernie Marsden and Paul Martinez. They brought the 1977 album Malice In Wonderland out.

After 1976, the band Deep Purple had dissolved, Jon Lord and Ian Paice were looking for new tasks. Along with Tony Ashton, Jon Lord with the had worked together often, they wanted to start a new band. Unlike Deep Purple but it should not be assigned to the Hard Rock. To other musicians they sought by newspaper advertisement ( "British band Requires BRITISH Bass Player and Lead Guitarist for formation of new rock band by three established musicians [ ... ]"). After an audition, it was decided for the bassist Paul Martinez and guitarist Bernie Marsden. In addition, you still took a horn section and two backup singers to the band.

After the new band had presented to the press on August 21, 1976 began in September in Munich with the recording of the album, Malice In Wonderland, which came on the market in 1977.

Then, Paice Ashton Lord went on an extensive tour, which originated on the recordings of the live album, published in 1992 BBC Live In Concert. 1977 began with recording for a second album, which could be completed, however, only around 75 %, since the band split during its production in 1978. These recordings were released in 2001 as bonus tracks on a Special Edition of the album Malice In Wonderland.
