Painesville is a city in Lake County in the U.S. state of Ohio and is situated on the Grand River. According to the statistics of 2000, the city had 17,503 inhabitants. It is the capital and administrative seat ( county seat ) of Lake County.

History

Painesville was founded in 1832 as a place (incorporated ) and was named after General Edward Paine ( 1746-1841 ), named one of the first settlers who settled in 1800 in the area of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Paine served during the American War of Independence in the militia of Connecticut as a captain and represented the region in the legislative Territorial Assembly.

When surveying the land in 1805, the first name of the village was first established by General Henry Champion as champion. The city rights were granted place in 1902.

Education

The local school board has begun with the demolition of Hobart Middle School in order to build on the site of a high school can. The Heritage Middle School will be built in the Chestnut Street.

In the village is the Library Morley Library, founded in 1899 and is responsible for the County District public.
