Often these programs are implemented as Web applications with Java or Flash frontend. Especially popular these applications are in Japanese Oekaki forums.
PaintChatApp
PaintchatApp is freeware and consists of a public Java server and a Java applet. It was developed in 2000 by a Japanese programmer under the pseudonym Shichan. The last version was published in 2003.
Twiddla
Twiddla is a browser- based chat tool with Paint Talk Support and a focus on web conferencing. The service was launched in April 2007.
IScribble
IScribble is an online community that offers Paint chat channels.
RateMyDrawings
RateMyDrawings is also an online community with Paint chat channels.
Queeky
Queeky is also an online community with Paint chat channels in the so-called MultiDraw. User can create their own MultiDraw rooms and other user inviting them to share. Drawings that were created with Queeky can be played via a replay function. Queeky is available in German and English.
Programs without a central server
Open canvas
The paint program open canvas is particularly popular for non-public character -sessions. The older freeware versions offered network support. Here, a client acting as a server, up to 3 other clients via incoming TCP / IP connections. Otherwise, no additional Web server is needed. Since portal Graphics abolished this feature with version 2, still circulate today many copies of oC11b72.exe (open canvas 1.1b72 ) on the Internet.
Since 2006 there is an improved server program N- SOCs, who introduced some extra features and the user limit raised from 4 to 24.
PictoChat
Nintendo 's PictoChat (part of the Nintendo DS operating system ) provides Paint Chat functionality within a local network.
Drawpile
Drawpile is free open source software that will offer similar collaborative functions such as open canvas.
