Pajala

Pajala is a locality ( tätort ) in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historic province of Norrbotten.

The chief town of the same name located at the Swedish- Finnish border, about 100 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle älv the Torne.

Area attractions include the sundial, the church and the home of the Provost and botanist Lars Levi Laestadius, who is buried in Pajala. Every year will be held in June of Pajala market.

Insight into life in Pajala in the 1960s and 1970s are the novel Popular Music from Vittula by Mikael Niemi, who has been filmed under the same title in 2004.
