Pakatan Rakyat

Pakatan Rakyat The (PR, Malaysian Folk Alliance) is a company founded on 1 April 2008 informal opposition alliance in Malaysia as an opponent of the ruling coalition Barisan Nasional.

The PR parties includes the People's Justice Party (PKR ), Democratic Action Party (DAP ), Parti Islam Se - and Malaysia ( PAS). Already for the parliamentary election in 1999, these three parties and the Parti Rakyat Malaysia ( PRM) had under the name Barisan Alternatif ( Alternative Front) together, but quarreled after the election. For the parliamentary elections in 2008, they joined together again without the PRM.

Each party has its own thematic focus: The PKR presents its emphasis on social justice and the fight against corruption, the PAS is designed Islamist and the DAP social democratic. The leaders of this alliance are Lim Kit Siang, Anwar Ibrahim and Abdul Hadi.
