Pakistan national field hockey team
The Pakistani hockey team of gentlemen representing the Pakistan Hockey Federation at the international level, for example at the world hockey championship, the FIH Champions Trophy or the Olympic Games. The Green Shirts are record-breaking champion with four titles, and won three gold medals at the Olympic Games.
After the dissolution of British India the first international match of Pakistan at the 14th Olympic Games took place on August 2, 1948 held in London, where Belgium was defeated 2-1. By 2003, the team played 993 games in which 298 players were used.
Apart from Cricket Hockey belongs in the country's most popular sports and the national team plays in front of spectators scenes, which are not achieved in Europe. So the Gaddafi Hockey Stadium in Lahore summarizes 45,000 spectators. Last but remained out of the great successes, the team came at the 2006 World Cup and sixth at the Champions Trophy in 2007 and the seventh rank.
For a scandal ensured in 1972 Pakistan's hockey players in the scandal poor sport hockey when they came to the awards ceremony after the Olympic final defeat against Germany in flip-flops, and refused to reassign the silver medal.
