Pál Bedák

Pál Bedak ( born September 8, 1985 in Budapest) is a Hungarian boxer. He was vice-champion in 2005 in Mianyang / China in the light flyweight.

Career

Pál Bedak grew up in Budapest and comes from a Boxer family from which his brother Zsolt Bedak emerged another successful boxer. He began as a student with the boxes and has already achieved great success as a junior at the international level.

His first start in an international championship, he completed in May 2002 in Kecskemét at the Junior World Championship ( Cadets = up to the age of 17 ) in the light flyweight. He took it behind Suranjoy Balbir from Indonesia 2nd place. In the same year took place in Lviv also Junior European Championships ( Cadets ) instead and here he won with a points victory in the final over Denis Dredichin from Russia its first European title. He started in the same year, then in Santiago de Cuba at the Junior World Championship, the 18- year-old, suffered there, but in the second round against Jose Luis Mustelier from Cuba one point defeat ( 16:28 ).

In 2002 Pál Bedak was already Hungarian champion in the seniors in the light flyweight. He repeated this success in 2003 by a break victory in the second round of Sandor Lakatos. When Bocskai Memorial in 2003 in Debrecen, he lost the final of the Moldovans Vyacheslav Gojan on points. Then he won at the Junior European Championships in Warsaw with a points victory in the final against Rafik Magermanow from Russia his second European title. He then started also in the Senior World Championships in Bangkok and won in his first fight over Yuji Noguchi from Japan by termination in the 2nd round. In the second round, however, was a terminus for him because he lost the locals Suban Punnon by points ( 14:23 ).

At the 2004 European Championships in Pula Pál Bedak won behind Sergei Kazakov from Russia, against whom he lost in the semi finals of this championship and Alfonso Pinto from Italy 3rd place. In May 2004, he started then the pre-Olympic test event in Athens in the light flyweight. He won it against Redouane Bouchtouk from Morocco ( 31:2 ) and Hong Moo -Won from South Korea ( 27:25 ) on points and lost the final battle against world champions Yan BARTHELEMI from Cuba just by points ( 16:17 ). In June 2004, Pal Bedak was junior world champion in the light flyweight in the South Korean Jeju. He defeated it in the final Sergei Wodopjanow from Russia by points ( 32:24 ) After these good results, he also hoped at the 2004 Olympics even do well. This he did not succeed, because even in his first fight he lost there against Jeyhan Abijew from Azerbaijan to points ( 8:23 ) and was eliminated unplaziert.

Pál Bedak did not let it get out of this disappointment and also continued to take the ordeal of constant detraining in the light flyweight, so up to 48 kg body weight, in purchase. Even if it means before the tournaments in which he started to record food and barely allowed to drink especially very little. At the 2005 World Championships in Mianyang in China, then the successes came back, because he defeated there Arlen Contreras from Colombia ( 35:16 ) Pürewdordschiin Serdamba from Mongolia ( 30:15 ) and European champion Sergei Kazakov ( 24:16 ) on points and won the semi-final on Birschan Schaqypow from Kazakhstan through abortion in the 3rd round. He stood thus in the final battle against the Chinese Zhou Shiming. He gave this a valiant fight he was more balanced than the hit ratio of 31:13 in favor of Shiming says.

2006 won Pál Bedak the 50th Bocskai Memorial in Debrecen in the light flyweight with wins over Hovhannes Danieljan from Armenia, Ronny Beblik from Germany and Paramjeet Singh from India. A small setback he suffered at the European Championships the same year in Plovdiv, because he lost there in the quarterfinals against Dawid Ajrapetjan from Russia on points and got away with it only to 5th place in the light flyweight.

In 2007 Pál Bedak also won at the 51st Bocskai Memorial in Debrecen. He defeated fight for victory of fly weight the strong Moldovans Igor Samoylenko convincingly on points ( 30:5 ). Subsequently, he also won the championship in the European Union in Dublin in the light flyweight. He won it on Alfonso Pinto from Italy ( 24:9 ), Nordine Oubaali, France ( 21:11 ) and Kelvin de la Nieve of Spain ( 20:10) respectively on points. No success was then summoned him at the World Championships in Chicago. He won there though in his first fight on Oscar Negrete from Colombia to points ( 24:9 ), but separated already in his next fight by a point defeat ( 18:27 ) against Dawid Ajrapetjan from. In the final account, he came only to 17th place and thus also missed qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

In 2008 he therefore had initially put his focus on the European qualifying events for these Olympics. At the first tournament in Pescara / Italy, he triumphed over Jeyhun Abijew from Azerbaijan to points ( 10:22 ), but then succumbed to become his nemesis Russians Dawid Ajrapetjan in the quarterfinals convincingly on points ( 9:25 ) and could thus again not for the Olympics qualify. He therefore had to play well at the Second European Qualifying Tournament in Athens a few weeks later. There, at last he succeeded with victories over Anton Bekesh from Belarus, Ferhat Pehlivan from Turkey and Kelvin de la Nieve qualifying for Beijing. Another success then succeeded him in June 2008 in Cetniewo / Poland, because he was there in the light flyweight with victories over Lukasz Maszczyk from Poland and Patrick Barnes of Northern Ireland again champion of the European Union. At the Olympic Games in 2008, retired from Bedak as early as 2004 in the first round.
