Palace of Congresses

The Pallati i Kongreseve (Albanian for Congress Palace; actually " congresses Palace " ) is the venue for various conferences, festivals, exhibitions, ceremonies, fairs and concerts in Tirana, the Albanian capital. The building is located east of the central boulevards Deshmoret e Kombit in close proximity to the university and Qemal - Stafa Stadium.

History

The Congress Palace was built between 1982 and 1986 at the time of the communist dictatorship of Enver Hoxha. He served until the democratic changes in 1990/91 mainly as a local convention and conference center for the Party of Labour of Albania. Since then, the Pallati i Kongreseve is used for a variety of events such as festivals, exhibitions and music concerts.

2012, the building was transferred from Government property in the possession of the city of Tirana.

Baudaten

The building consists of a rectangular floor plan with a dome in the middle. In this case, the corners are cut off. The plant reaches a height 18-23 meters, a width of approximately 70 meters and a length of 95 meters. The surface area is thus about 6650 square meters.

The main hall has a seating capacity of about 2,100 people. There are also three smaller halls with a capacity of 150, 280 and 300 people.

Events

Today, the Palace of Congresses in Tirana is known primarily as a venue for the national music festivals Festivali i Këngës that takes place there since 1989. Kenga Magjike is another important singing competition, which is held at this location.
