The Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid is a multi-purpose arena in Madrid, Spain, which is used for various indoor sports and concerts. It is also the home of the basketball clubs CB Estudiantes and Real Madrid.

History

On the grounds of today's Palacio de Deportes, a sports hall was built in 1960 by the city of Madrid built with the same name, this was in 1985 in the possession of the Autonomous Community of Madrid over and was completely renovated. On 28 June 2001 a fire destroyed the building almost completely, which is why you decided to convert on the same property to build a completely new and modern arena. This was finally opened on 16 February 2005 and cost around 124 million euros. The hall holds up to 16,000 spectators and can be used for various sports as well as concerts.

Public transport

The Palacio de Deportes can be reached via the Metro Line 2 and Line 4 ( Goya station ) and line 6 ( station O'Donnell ). The bus routes 2, 15, 21, 28, 29, 30, 43, 53, 56, 63, 71, 143 and C also stop at the arena.
